using oracle and mysql

I will like to touch this 2 DBMS, the questions that I have are different, but in fact or short, I will like:

for oracle:
  • How to install Oracle 10201_database_linux32.zip
  • I see a friend installing Oracle in Windows, after when re-initializing Windows, the system go down in performance (like 4 minutes at startup), I say perhaps a service, then he go to search for services, and see 1 service for oracle (only 1 first time), shutit down and automatic loading shutdown, restart, then another service for oracle show in the list, he shut it down and do the task another times until get the start of computer back to normal... and terminate shuting down the automatic lauch of like 5 services for Oracle, the question is how to install oracle that is only launched when I need launch it and not every startup?
  • is there a utility that I can see the "services" of Linux?
  • How to use for first time the oracle db and connect to it.

for mysql:
  • A tutorial oriented to linux for first time use

I also have watched an app called kexi, that is supposed to connect to mysql server, but I need first know how to use it without kexi .

Actually I have searched in this site, and find some explanations on how to install oracle... anyway, I will like to listen one more time ... Im actually downloading oracle 10g...

Have a nice day or night.

Thanks for your help.

I recommend the information at http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle10gOnSUSE.shtml - I've used it to get Oracle working on Slackware and Fedora installations. I don't know which version of MySQL you're using (or what you're doing with it) so I'd suggest looking at http://dev.mysql.com/doc/.
