Using Installation mode with APCI disabled

When installing linux on this laptop I'm forced to use the APCI disabled installation program. Everything goes smoothly and after all the packages are installed I'm prompted that the system will now reboot and enter the configuration process afterwards. The problem is my system reboots and then when it tries to load SuSE off the hardrive the screen just blanks, any clues?

Can you switch to a text console (Ctrl+Alt+F1-6)? Are there no messages before? Try another resolution (type vga=<value> on the initial grub screen).

Code:
    | 640x480 800x600 1024x768 1280x1024
----+-------------------------------------
256 | 0x301 0x303 0x305 0x307
32k | 0x310 0x313 0x316 0x319
64k | 0x311 0x314 0x317 0x31A
16M | 0x312 0x315 0x318 0x31B
Instead of using acpi=off, you could also try pci=noacpi, which helps in some cases. See http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2002/10/81_acpi.html for more info.
