USB transfer speeds incredibly slow

Edit: I submitted this post in the middle of some Googling, and after Googling a bit more, I found a more thorough discussion here. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=105871

I'm leaving this post up because I'm sure others have had this problem.

I have USB 2.0 ports that worked fine with SuSE 9.3, but with SuSE 10.0, the transfer rates are occurring at around 10 KB/s. Of course, this is utterly unacceptable. I don't know how to fix this problem, but I would greatly appreciate if someone can help me: as a starting point, here's the output of lsmod.

Search for Syncranization (damn I butchered that). You'll find the fix.

apachedude 10-20-2005 04:15 PM

Until a kernel patch is released, we'll have to mount USB devices nosync (async?) to get high transfer rates.

I don't know anything about HAL, so I don't want to touch that if at all possible. However, from my fstab:

Quote:

sysfs /sys sysfs noauto 0 0
usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs noauto 0 0
Can I just change noauto to noauto, async? Would that work or break anything?

Has anyone using 10.1 alpha experienced these USB 2.0 transfer problems?
