URGENT: lgdbm missing


I am trying to install an open source software on my system(SUSE 10.0) i am getting an error of

"cannot find -lgdbm"

i have searched this library in my system i have found a similar name

"libgdbm.so.3" what should i do? should i install what and in which directory so that my this problem is solved easily. Please help me its quite urgent.

It would be helpful if you name the software you are planning to install. My best guess is that you miss the -devel package of some library (gbdm-devel?).

BTW: Marking threads as URGENT is usually not considered polite. All threads deserve the same attention.
