Upgrade php 5 mysql 5 on SuSE 10.0

Hello, I just installed SuSE 10.0 onto what's going to be my server from DVD. However, php5 is not listed in YaST. Also, there's only mysql 4.1. I would like to have php 5.1 and mysql 5 (not sure of the latest version) How can I upgrade these? Are there RPMs or will I have to compile? I'd like to do it thru YaST so I can easily upgrade later.

I was having the same problem but there are 2 fairly straight forward ways to do it.

1) Download from Mysql either the RPM or compile it.

2) Easier -- the OSS (Open source) source directory tree on any of the mirrors has mysql in SUSE rpm format. Install from there.

I also wanted Apache and Php and phymyadmin so I did that as well.

The problem with compiling php is that it's a pain to get all the extensions. In this case just install from the OSS 10.0 sources.

I was surprised that OSS has these while the 10.0 Eval DVD I downloaded only had Mysql 4.1

You can get the OSS sources from the sticky threads YAST SOURCES.

Just download the relevent files from the directory and add it as your own local directory for installing software (SUSE 10.0)
