Upgrade gnome 2.12 to 2.14 offline

I have a opensuse 10.0 installed machine with no internet connection.
I am planning to upgrade my gnome to 2.14. I want to install all necessary rpm packages from my friend computer, write them into a cd and upgrade my gnome but I don't know from where I can find rpms with all dependencies.
Thanks for any help.

I think you would create a dependency nightmare trying to upgrade that way. A better option, in my opinion, would be to find a magazine cover disc which has Gnome 2.14 on it and upgrade from that. Most magazine coverdiscs include whatever dependencies are necessary.

Hope this helps

Hi there, I want to comment my experience.

I Have FC4 with GNOME 2.10 and I decide to upgrade my GNOME desktop.

The first thing I do was download the gnome file from the gnome site (http://www.gnome.org/). And in the README file sets the instructions to install it succesfully, but I don't get it. There is, in the gnome site, a program thata you install and that program will install and download all files that gnome needs. For a while that was good, but in some point of installation it puts an error message, asking me to install some dependency that it is missing in my system. I downloaded and installed. Then I run the install program again, and it pass that error, but for a while I get a new meesage of another dependency. And after 3 days I had this problem for a very lot of dependencies. Actually I can't install ImageMagick to continue the instalation.

It is a lot of work I have to do to get the latest version of GNOME for my FC4 distro. In the DEPS_LIST file that came whit gnome instalator theres a list of dependencies thata GNOME needs for Fedora, and it's a great list.

Well, that's my sad history, if someone can help to make easy the gnome-2.14 installation I apreciate it.

I have search for a magazine whit some version of GNOME, but I don't get it

Saludos.

i think that's why patrick dropped it after 10.1...

i love using gnome but it is a dependency nitemare...

they really should address this if they expect gnome to be used

already i see these translucent features in the theme area of gnome-look.org but at a loss to integrate into my gnome 2.6

i have other priorities

cheers
