upgrade from 11.1 to newer

Friends,
I have a 11.1 64 bit open suse machine
( openSUSE 11.1 (x86_64) VERSION = 11.1 )
that i would like to upgrade can I do a upgrade that does not require a full install? Can i do a live upgrade directly to 12.1 or need i do it in steps? 11.1 > 11.2 > 11.4 > 12.1
something like that?

basically
can i put in the 12.1 dvd and pick upgrade existing?
can i do the zupper way?

I am just looking for some wisdom from someone who has - done it or has a suggested way to do it -- Thanks

j

Have you read http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:System_upgrade? That gives you various options and detailed instructions.

I was thinking the clean install is the ...most certain path.
Due to the challenge of that i wished for a "magical' solution.
