Upgrade Alsa
 

Hi I'm running SuSE 9.2 , my sound card (which is not working on Linux) is CMEDIA CMI9880/L , it says in the manufacturer web site :

that I have to upgrade the alsa-lib to version 1.0.8 .

Didn't find an update for Alsa RPMs in SuSE's update site.

Need an advise on how to upgrade Alsa.

Didja check to see if CMedia has the updated driver? If not, try rpmfind, on the net in two different versions, one an org, the other a net.

Do you have sound now. I have the same problem with a P5AD2 deluxe mother board. and I'm searching for a solution for the sound.

No, sound is not working eving with Ubuntu which has Alsa 1.0.8

I have given up on it. I am thinking of changing the mother board or buying a new sound card.
