unmount digital camera

I have a problem with the unmounting of my digital camera. SuSE mounts the device automatically, but I have no option to unmount it safely. Is there a nice/proper way to do this?

My camera keeps complaining the storage card is read-only after I unplug the cable directly.

Which SUSE version do you use? In SUSE >9.1 the mounting should be done by submount, which means you can unplug the camera as soon as you don't access it anymore. To be on the very safe side, you can eject the device, e.g. 'eject /dev/sda1'

You can also right click the icon for the mounted camera and choose unmount.

That does not apply when you're using subfs (think: autofs/submount/supermount), and device is mounted as root from hotplug.

That is odd since it worked for me from Suse 9.0 up until 9.3. Same way as I can right click a CD in my drive and hit eject in the 9.x series.

Weird indeed.. I get an error that the mount point is not in fstab, and I'm not root.
From your response I cannot make up whether it's still supported in SuSE 9.3. (I've upgraded KDE to the same version SuSE 9.3 provides)
