Trouble with installing Mplayer on Suse10.1

Hi all,
Because other multimedia players I have on Suse can not play windows format files(wmv, wma, etc), I tried to install MPlayer. But it does not work in Yast->software management. Suse complains that some library used to build MPlayer is missing, so the installation would not even start. Later on I did the manual installation, but it takes so long, and I did not get the GUI of the MPlayer, might screwed up somewhere.

Does anyone installed Mplayer on Suse? Do I have other options for playing files in windows format?
Thanks..

I believe that you do. If you install gstreamer010-plugins-bad and gstrteamer010-plugins-ugly this should work in all of your other players such as totem and kaffeine. Also, try using smart. YaST in 10.1 is not very good. You can download smart from their website: http://labix.org/smart or you can do it through YaST, but the one you download is not the most recent. Smart might also be able to resolve the dependencies with mplayer as well.

Go to yast and search win32, then select win-32codecs all.
Then install Mplayer plugin. this will enable you to use kaffeine to play all of that stuff.
Don't bother tying to use mplayer, instead try kaffeine.
