Training Suggestions?

Good Evening everyone.

I have a little question for you all. I've downloaded and installed Suse 9.2 and I'm pretty impressed with it. I've used Suse off and on since version 7 and the one thing I've noticed, It sure seems to be just getting better and better.

The question I have is, Can anyone send me some links to any trianing documents you may have, whether it's suse or not. Looking at the Suse website and desiring to work towards a Novell Certified Linux Professional cert. I see the self study stuff is like $396.00

Granted I'm not a cheap assed fool. I'm just a poor fool. If I had the 400.00 I would just order it and study like a banshie.

I do have a bunch of bookmarks for different linux sites for learning and they really do help.
I'm just asking all of you because I know you guys are just a wealth of information and are always so helpful. I also know, you have to have alot more bookmarks of stuff than i could ever find.

I would be most thankful for whatever you could send along. Also we have the best of all worlds right here.

When you put them in here... We can all benifit.

Also, please feel free to contact me on my yahoo or aim or heck, just email me if you would like.

Thanks so much for all the help.

Doug Gentry

I assume you are wanting people to post copyrighted study materials that you can't find on anyone website, and for good reason {they are copyrighted}. I haven't memorized the rules, but I'm sure posting that type of content would not be approved of. If you are just looking for links to other websites, orielly's web has lots of linux documents. TLDP.org can tell you more than anyone really needs to know. Googling "linux how-to" will provide ample time-wasters while at work.

PS: You ask us to send stuff to you via email and messenger, but I noticed that you didn't include any email/messenger. Hmm...

edit:
not to mention our wiki and tutorials and the always ignored "search" button

"I assume you are wanting people to post copyrighted study materials that you can't find on anyone website, and for good reason {they are copyrighted}"

Looking back at my post.. I don't think I ever asked for any copyrighted material.

In all honesty, I humbly was asking nicely if anyone would happen to have any links for me about suse or linux that I may not already have. I'd like to learn this OS inside and out.

Seems to me that instead of sitting in here and asking question after question I could at least show the initiative to want to take the bull by the horns and ask for something to read.

Also in answer about the email, ya see that little button that says email... press it.

But to tell ya the truth, after reading your post to mine... Forget it, I ask a question and seem to get a bunch of crap from you.
Maybe I should just delete the post and go somewhere else.

Anyway, thanks for you help.

Oh, in case anyone would like. Here's a link that I find very helpful.

It depends on how you interpret my attitude. I'm not flaming you. You asked for people to post "training material' and made reference to SusE's certification track, which is generally copyrighted material.

If you read it as someone informing you nicely, then its not bad. If you read my post assuming that I'm pissed and flaming you, then yeah I make myself seem like an A**hole. I'm simply informing you so you and anyone who posts doesn't post any copyrighted material

LOL, I'm sorry too... You're right about the copyrighted material. One thing about this form of communication I don't care about is the inability to tell how something is said.

I just have a genuine desire to learn as much as possible about Suse and Linux and I'd like to see the day where I can come in here and actually post correct answers to instead of just questions.
I'm sorry if I came across as an ass*&%^ This morning also.

and also, my

yahoo is ElDougoRashid

Thank you again for your help and your input and I hope to hear from you again.

well if you want to get to know linux in general I would suggest a Gentoo Stage1 install...seriously I learned more from installing it than I ever did using the nice GUI installs...as far as the copyrighted stuff..there isn`t anything you can`t get nowadays but as its not legal I`m not gonna explain any further..and if its not GPL I have little interest in it or knowing trade secrets...but if its general knowledge your looking for there are literally millions of pages dedicated to linux and how it works...and I`ve found that experience and actually doing things like compiling kernels and manually configuring files increase my usefulness more than poring over tomes of written material alone
