Tips on installing 9.1 Pro on an IBM ThinkPad t20

I'm taking delivery of a refurbished IBM ThinkPad t20, having googled various refurb's to find IBM are among the best supported under Linux.

Looking for tips, pitfalls to avoid when installing 9.1 Pro, dual boot with the Laptop's pre-installed Win2K (I will be getting a recovery CD as part of the deal in case of mishaps).

Anyone want to share their experience, what to look out for, useful sites, WIkis, HOWTOs etc are all gratefully rec'd.

Excellent collection of HOWTO's for Linux on laptops: http://www.linux-laptop.net/

Although it describes a Slackware installation, this article is an excellent resource for installing Linux on a Thinkpad http://bellet.info/laptop/t40.html

Good luck with it!

As an aside, I was going to download Fresh Diagnose
http://www.freshdevices.com/ - onto Windows and run reports to get device info to help me through the installation. Is this the best freeware software to do this or does anyone have a better suggestion

Just thought I should let you know the ThinkPad thing fell through, thought I was getting a good deal, but it seems the Vendor was offloading some very old T20s (700Mhz, 10 GB, 128MB) as opposed to (800MHZ, 12GB, 256MB) which a lot of other Vendors offer at the same price.

Think I'll wait until next year, once Xmas is over. There's bound tyo be some deals there, but thanks as always for the help!!!!
