The Gimp 2.0 and printing

OK, SuSE 9.2 Pro, KDE 3.3.1, HP 970Cxi. Works a treat for everything, except the Gimp 2.0.

If I print from here, the printer spools paper like there is no tomorrow, until I cancel the print job in KDE and with the X button on the printer.

Sorry if its been asked before, but I have googled and searched here without much luck. Is there a fix?

Thanks

Hello,

Yes, there's a fix - I've been here before myself (and I've got the stack of 'scrap' paper to prove it....:-(

When you go to print, in the print panel that appears, top-right you'll see your printer new to 'Printer Name'. Just below it will be 'Printer Model' and I'll bet it says 'Postscript Level 2'... This needs to be changed, so click on 'Setup printer', pick the nearest thing to your model (for DeskJet 970 you'll want DeskJet 900 Series). Then all should be well, but just a note - I've found that Gimp Print doesn't support HP printers very well, so you probably will only be able to print at max 600x600dpi - I think there's a way around this - anybody?
