Hi,

Using Suse 10.2 and Gnome. When I startup or change user my terminal window opens. How do I shut this off?

Thanks

go to the control panel, and click on sessions. there should be a tab for startup programs (if you don't see it, then just poke around on that box for a second, its there.)
look and see if gnome terminal or xterm or something similar is listed. highlight it, then click on disable. log out, then back in, and see if it helps. also, if something goes wrong, you can always just go and enable it again. :-D

Just close the terminal then save your session & log back in.

Thanks, yesterday I tried Drewbug's way, couldn't find the command, today I used Xian's method -- the simple way is sometimes the best. I'm still used to thinking in Windowspeak -- every problem is difficult. Linux sometimes has a most surprising way of solving problems. How do I get to reorient my thinking to think of the simple solution FIRST?

Thanks again to both of you guys.
