system file checker

Dear All,

Is there such a thing as a system file checker, like Windows XP's "sfc", for Suse 9.1 Personal?

Cheers,

JessJ

are talking about fsck

Code:

fsck /dev/hda1
Like in windows it has to be done before complete boot, ie in single user mode, when partitions are not mounted already.

Hi mrcheeks,

Thanks. Actually, when I "sfc /scannow" in Windows XP, I think I am fully booted!?

What does linux fsck check the system against? (For example, does it ask for the installation CD, and/or does it use a system cache that includes the updates,...?)
