Hi,
I am new to linux so I hope some one can help, I have been running OpenSuse 10.1 for about six weeks, I've had a few problems but I have managed to solve them by looking through the forums, my latest problem has come about since I installed the nvidia drivers, I followed the instructions from nvidia to the letter and everything installed without a hitch, after installation I was asked to reboot, now I have a system failure, Grub loads and gives me the boot options as per usual, then comes the blue splash screen with the logo and "SUSE Linux 10.1" and thats where it sits, I cannot even get to the command line and log in, any ideas anybody on what I should do.
Thank you
Just a guess - press CTRL-ALT-F1 to get to a terminal, replace the new xorg.conf with your backup (I believe that the NVIDIA drivers made one). This will get you back to where you were before.
Unfortunately I've never used SUSE, but I'm guessing that your x-server is failing, so - assuming this is correct, then you need to get to a terminal and edit/replace your xorg.conf
Thanks again for your prompt reply, I can't seem to get anywhere let alone an X terminal, I have no command line, I've got nothing except grub and the next screen.

I suggest you boot from a live CD like Knoppix to edit/replace your xorg configuration file. It's available as a free download at http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html as long as you have access to another computer. It's a good idea to have to have a live CD on hand to deal with similar boot problems.
Thanks for the reply, I've decided to get rid of 10.1 as too many things kept going wrong, I've loaded SLED 10, I'll give it a try if it's ok I will pay for the support. Thanks for your suggestions
