Swap space missing on 9.3
I was experimenting with CD drives to see how many I could install, and when I put in a 3rd one (with computer off, of course) and restarted, I got this:
fsck failed for at least one filesystem (not /) root is already mounted read-write when I used mount, I got: :/ # mount /dev/hda2 on / type ext3 (rw,acl,user_xattr) /dev/hda2 on / type ext3 (rw,acl,user_xattr) :/ # hda1 is swap, and it's unmounted? Did I kill my computer? |
OK.. Think I figured out the problem. It wasn't the swap space that it couldn't find, it was either /hdb1 or /hdb2. The former is the Reiser partition that I use as backup, and the latter is a fat32 that I use to back up windows stuff. I pulled hdb out to put in a 3rd dvd drive, out of simple curiousity.
So, I put hdb back in, and voila, it works. I suppose the drives have to be unmounted before I shutdown and pull them out. I really need something that can come out on the fly, so maybe I should invest in usb mass storage. |
