Swap disabled in 10.3 after 2.6.22.18-0.2 upgrade

Hi,

After having upgraded the kernel to 2.6.22.18-0.2 with Yast, my swap has been disabled.

http://home.hia.no/~froden04/temp/snapshot5.png

Have any of you encountered this before?

Code:
frode@dhcppc2:~> free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 1011 994 16 0 67 409
-/+ buffers/cache: 517 494
Swap: 0 0 0

frode@dhcppc2:~> cat /etc/fstab
/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_HTE721060G9AT00_MPC3J1Y3G3YYWD-part2 / ext3 acl,user_xattr 1 1
/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_HTE721060G9AT00_MPC3J1Y3G3YYWD-part3 /home ext3 acl,user_xattr 1 2
/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_HTE721060G9AT00_MPC3J1Y3G3YYWD-part1 swap swap defaults 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs noauto 0 0
debugfs /sys/kernel/debug debugfs noauto 0 0
usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs noauto 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0
I've tried various combinations of swapon and its flags to enable it again, but to no avail.

Ideas?

run fdisk -l to see the device names for the partitions. The swap should be labeled type 82. You can try your swapon commands from there. if you run mkswap on the wrong partition, you'll lose all the stuff that was in it.

Thanks for your reply. Here's the output.

Code:
dhcppc2:/dev/disk # fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sda: 60.0 GB, 60011642880 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 7296 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x0004c426

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 1 199 1598436 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sda2 * 200 2810 20972857+ 83 Linux
/dev/sda3 2811 7296 36033795 83 Linux
Looks like the id is right (82).

Code:
dhcppc2:/dev/disk/by-uuid # ls -l
total 0

dhcppc2:/dev/disk/by-uuid # swapon -U 4bcf1b14-26de-4f12-84a8-994bb9a29ee7

Code:

Setting up swapspace version 1, size = 1636794 kB
no label, UUID=e1e43c79-bf12-486f-ac38-4ab3cfdd4b7d

dhcppc2:/dev/disk/by-uuid # swapon -a

dhcppc2:/dev/disk/by-uuid # swapon -s
Filename Type Size Used Priority

Works now :-) Thanks again, whansard.
