SUSE9.1 Internet Connection
 

OK, I'm new to Linux and SuSe. I've learned a lot in attempt to connect to the Internet. I got a new external serial modem, US Robotics. I'm sure that my configuration settings are correct. I am dialing into my Internet provider, Netscape. According to the log file, a Serial connection is established, but the CHAP authentication fails. I went into etc/ppp/chap-secrets to enter my username and password, hoping that might work, but I still cannot connect. Any idea or feedback would be appreciated.

try entering the following on a new line at the end of /etc/ppp/pap-secrets:

yourloginname, a tab, an asterisk, a tab, yourpassword

this has worked for me !
