Question Suse9.0 live skips run level 5.

I am not sure but because of no Kernel support to ACPI,
9.0 live does not run level 5.
(pcmcia smbf acpid---------------------not exactly sure ,I saw on boot screen.)
Is there any other (Mdk move?) live evalation disc that has ACPI support?

The kernel of SUSE 9.0 supports acpi already. But you may try also the LiveCD versions of SuSE 9.1 or 9.2. Maybe you need to boot with acpi=on. I think it will be harder to find a Live distro that does not provide ACPI support than to find one that provides it

ACPID: No ACPI support in kernel skipped
------------------

Master Resource Control: runlevel 5 has been reached
Skipped services in runlevel 5: pcmcia smbfs acpid
-----------------

This is the boot screen I still get with acpi=on.

Maybe you'll find some interesting information here:

http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2002/10/81_acpi.html

I think this message (no ACPI support in kernel) is confusing. Why should SuSE ship a kernel without ACPI support, but install acpid per default

A BIOS update may be a solution.

Nothing worked.
I still get ACPID:no kernel support for acpi
pcmcia smbf acpid----when skippes run level 5.
Is there any possibility that bios is too old?
(Gigabyte---GA-5SMM).
Also I can use Suse live as root user(linux log in).
Can I go to internet like this ?

Can you check the logs for more detailed error messages? Especially /var/log/boot.msg and /var/log/messages
