Hi,

I have installed SUSE11.4 O/S and the respective graphics driver. With root user i can start the X-server with out any issues. But when I tried to start the X-server with non root user account called atitest, getting the below Fatal error.

xauth: file /home/atitest/.serverauth.7093 does not exist


Fatal server error:
Cannot move old log file "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" to "/var/log/Xorg.0.log.old"

xinit: giving up
xinit: unable to connect to X server: Connection refused
xinit: server error

xinit failed. /usr/bin/Xorg is not setuid, maybe that's the reason?
If so either use a display manager (strongly recommended) or adjust /etc/permissions.local

I would be thankful if anybody provide the solution to solve this error.

try changing the default run run level to 5 or change the path to add xauth and xinit in the users path

you can check if the exist in the path by typing
which xauth
which xinit
