suse10.2 & intel modem - having trouble connecting.
Hi. I am having trouble connecting to the internet with suse10.2. I have an Intel v92 Ham data fax voice modem. Serial modem is connected to com3, /dev/ttyS2. I am using KDE desktop. I downloaded a copy of how to set up a serial modem with suse 10 using kde. Everything is configured correctly. I am using Kinternet as my dialup protocol. My service provider is Netscape. I think they are own by AOL but in Windows you do not need the AOL software to connect. I do not know what I am missing and do not know where to look. I used Linux about 3 years ago and now I'm back, so I am a little green. Can anyone help? I would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I have Linux on 1 hard drive and Windows on another and they are never in my computer at the same time. I will have to log on with Windows to get the help, then log off and install my Linux hard drive to try it out. It could get complicated going back and forth and my take time answering anymore questions. No more than 1 day thou. Thanks for your time.
Do you have the plug for dial on the lower right task bar? If so will it connect? If yes to the above right click on the plug and left click on "view log". Has there been any error messages?
Go to YaST - Click on Software Management in right pane - If you have a installation dvd - click the top left dropdown menu and click on installation source - Check the Smart Link modem (3) and install from the dvd. I may be wrong but I believe if you have a conexent chipset, it will work.
