suse personal 9.1 no, gcc make glibc help?

Hi guys I have been trying to compile software from source. I use suse 9.1 presonal,
but have heard that it does not have, make gcc and glibc-devel

This is what I get from a terminal when I do

linux:/home/samuelmp/bin/scalar-1.02-i386 # ./configure
bash: ./configure: No such file or directory
linux:/home/samuelmp/bin/scalar-1.02-i386 # scalar./configure
bash: scalar./configure: No such file or directory
linux:/home/samuelmp/bin/scalar-1.02-i386 # scalar
bash: scalar: command not found
linux:/home/samuelmp/bin/scalar-1.02-i386 #

what shall I do to sort it, or am I rong

The programs you are looking for are part of the "professional" edition. You can, however, download them via FTP through YaST, essentially turning your personal edition into a professional edition. This has been discussed in several threads already. Here is one that should answer your questions and show you how to do the FTP install:
