Suse login disabled!
I have suse 9.2 and i am using KDE. after a reboot I could not login as a regular user (my user ID), not because of incorrect password but ... I dont know. when I enter my ID and password the screen goes off and again aks for usrname and password. ... and no further from this page.

I logged in as root. then I rebooted again. This time i could not log in as root either!! When i give root ID and password the YaST page will be open and when I close it .... again the login page appears.

Then using YaST I created a new ID and now I am working with that. How come I can not enter as root or my regular user(I have a lot of documents and settings for my own user!)??

This happens to KDE and GNOME both.

please give me a hint

Try emptying your /tmp directory.

Rename your /home/<username>/.kde folder and re-login.

i had this when with gnome occasionally long time ago.

i am sure you can login to text mode (level 3). and u able to create a new user and login as that new user. this means your system is fine. just x issue.

my error message at that time was session lasted too short. it may have something to do with .Xauth.. file. delete this file should work it out

thanks, shen
