Suse LEAP 15 KDE copying options

Hi All,
Coming to terms with Suse LEAP 15.

The KDE copying procedure is either faulty or I've not selected the correct options.

Giving myself all the necessary permissions, I found that when I copied a folder from one disk to another, if that folder being copied contained other folders, then only those folders were copied to the new location but none of their contents, however, dropping into that top directory and copying all the folders, and everything worked as one would expect.

Is this normal?

Is there an option to control the depth of the copy and paste in KDE?

Regards

Chris

This is something I've never seen before nor heard of. Been using Leap 15.0 for since it came out and openSUSE/SUSE for over a decade.

It looks like you changed some of your permissions. My suspicion is that when you changed the permissions on the original location of the folder that it didn't apply to the subdirectories. If it really irks you try running "cp -Rpv" on that directory and see what errors may pop up

Hi wagscat123,

I have all permissions set for the disk and directory I wish to copy into.

I have all permissions set for the disk and directory I wish to copy from.

It really irks me but doing a mass copy from one HD to another is beyond my risk level at the moment.

The folder I'm copying has seven sub-folders and each of them have sub-folders too.

So, using Dolphin, I've highlighted and copied the top folder. I've moved to the other drive and pasted.

Well well well! They are all there!

No permissions have been changed and I have loads of omissions in the stuff I copied earlier!

Even yesterday, a straight forward copy was creating the folder but not the content.

The only difference is that I was copying several gigs yesterday and these trials are with a few hundred megabytes!

Nothing else to say. It's working.

I'll have another go at copying gigs and if that ok I will close the thread.

Thanks

Regards

Chris
