suse freeze problem

i am running opensuse 10.2, my os is freezing about every 20 minutes. the screen just goes black, with VERY faint vertical, randomly placed, grey lines. im not sure what this could be. the only things i can think of would be the kernel? i added the kernel sources because i needed to install ndiswrapper...maybe this had some effect on my kernel? or maybe a virus or bug (not sure if there are any viruses for linux??) any suggestions or help would be great because i dont wanna have to use xp again...

Describe Your Hardware

You need to tell us about the hardware you are using. Video card is most important, but motherboard, memory, hard disks, optical disks and so forth can also be useful. A bad or incorrect video driver might do this. Other things of interest might be useful such as screensaver settings and the time you have set before the screensaver starts. Information about your power saving settings might be useful to know. Does it make any difference if you are using your computer before it goes blank or it is just sitting there doing nothing. All information your could provide might help.

Thank You,
