SUSE 9.3 KDETV Hangs on exit and system can't shutdown
 

Hi anybody using SUSE 9.3 KDETV with a Hauppage WINTV card (older Bt78 version -- the original models|).

When I close it down the Sound won't switch off, the picture sometimes hangs and then I can't shutdown the system -- even root and KILL won't fix the problem.

This app worked fine on SUSE 9.2

This was particularly annoying recently as I was watching the 4th Test Match V Australia (Ashes Cricket matc) and had to actually pull the plug out to get the computer to switch off.

At least it proves the Reiser Fs system is quite robust as fortuinately re-start is OK.

Well, I am using a card with saa7134 driver. Under SuSE 9.2 it never worked. Now with SuSE 9.3 it works, but with many problems you described. So I am using now a TVTime package which is working excellent. No troubles at all. May be you should try it.

Found an answer that works

In the VIDEO option change the X in the box for VIDEO4LINUX2: BT878 to the box underneath VIDEO4LINUX: BT878 Video

Seems the VIDEO4LINUX2 option doesn't work properly on my system. The older version seems fine.

BTW to get SOUND working ensure LINE IN on the KMIXER is enabled.

I'll try the package as well you mentioned

(Note I've got the really old TV card -- not upgrading as we will be getting HDTV soon --I'll get a new card when this new HDTV system starts (next year).
