Suse 9.3 FTP install

Hello,

How do I upgrade from 9.2 to 9.3 via ftp install? This is the first time that I've had the chance to upgrade my Suse system to a new version. And I have never done a ftp install of an OS.

Well the way I do it is to download everything in the ftp mirror's /suse/i386/9.3/ folder... then you have all the install packages that you need to do a local install. Once you have the files in a folder then you can use the boot iso to install from the hard drive.

If you want to do ftp, then you download the mini ftp install.iso from the above folder and burn to a cd-r or rw and then boot from the cd. Then you just have to make sure you're online via ethernet connection on bootup. It will connect to the server, download packages that are necessary based on what you pick and install them.

Hope this helps, otherwise let me know.

Here's an easy guide on how to do an ftp install of SuSE:
http://www.zzzzx.plus.com/websites/suse_9.1/ftp.html
It works for all version of Suse.
However, I don't think 9.3 has been released for ftp download yet.

A quite important point:

So don't download anything, it's wasted traffic!
