SUSE 9.3: Firefox 1.0.7 tries to open two windows

Hi,

If I click the Firefox desktop icon when I already have Firefox running, Firefox tries to open TWO MORE windows, and slows down my whole system. I use tabs as much as possible, but sometimes it's easier just to open a second window if I have too many tabs going. Now every time I do that, it bogs down my computer.

However, this only happens if I need to open a second window, not when I first start Firefox. This problem only came up recently; I have tried removing and reinstalling Firefox, and the problem goes away for a time. Started doing it again, but I don't know anything else to do. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Brian

Not to ask a stupid question, but could the second window by the result of double clicking instead of single clicking?

When this problem first showed up, I too originally thought that the second window was just the result of accidentally double clicking, but I am 100% sure that is not the case.

Does not exhibit this behavior from the command line, and it went away for most of today after upgrading to Firefox 1.5.0.1 this morning, but unfortunately came back this evening. Since it does not open two windows from the command line, I can get used to opening Firefox that way.

Thanks for your help
