Suse 9.2 package selections seems smaller
Anyone notice that the Suse 9.2 pacakage selection on the DVD doesn't seem to have all the goodies that one is used to seeing?
I have to removable hard-drives bays 1 has Fedora and number 2 is now Suse 9.2, When I install it and get to the software selection. I choose package list and darned if I'm a bit amazed that it seems rather bare. Gosh, look in the games and compare to suse 9.1 or fedora. I never could find kopete or even ftp servers. Just in general it seems like you don't get the choices for software and applications like you used to get. Thanks, Doug |
I've not noticed a difference.

9.2 comes on a double layer DVD, 9.0 came on a two sided DVD. A few packages were removed because they were no longer supported by the devs or unnecessary duplicates of better programs, but that is a minor change. If any thing else is different, I'm unaware of it.

The public avl. DVD for 9.2 is a single sided .iso with limited programs. There are quite a few things I didn't find on the DVD.
Are you refering to the Purchase / Retail DVD of 9.2 being a Double-Layer DVD? |
Yes I am. I forgot that the downloadable .iso would have to be smaller to fit on a single DVD. All the other packages you might need are on the mirrors, AFAIK. (Except the good version of mplayer and the codecs...)
