Hi! In my suse 9.2 i can't hear any mp3 or wma file.... The cd audio work fine. I have checked the soundcard and it works (for te time being plays all the kde sounds perfectly)...
Xmms,amarok,noatun can't play the file.. I have noticed that all of these programmes recognize the file length of the track (i can move the progress bar of the song) but still when i press the play button nothins appears (like not having pressed it at all)
What should i do?
suse 9.2 has mp3 playback. its suse 9.3 that will be crippled like Fedora/Red Hat. Worst of all kde apps have been compiled without mp3 support, there goes amarak, juk...
Well, there is an edit on the review that says that they will be providing free plugins for multimedia playback. If its true they must have realised that they will lose as lot of potential customers due to the crippling of the multimedia capabilities of the distro.
I think the issue here, with a lot of people including myself, is that why should we have to add mp3 support. It should be fully functional in any distro.

I agree with you especially if you are paying for the distro.
@JSpired
If you read the review at Mad Penguin, it mentions that you have to recompile kdemultimedia and a host of multimedia applications, because they have all been compiled without mp3 support, so its not just a matter of installing one package to fix mp3 support for the whole distro.
thx guys....but for the time being ... what should i do to hear my mp3 in my suse 9.2? I have kde 3.3 and i want to use on of the already installed programmes... xmms,amarok,noatun e.t.c
What should i do?
