SuSE 9.1 IPV6

Under Fedora core 2 if I want to turn off IPV6 networking all I needed to do was add in NETWORKING_IPV6=no to /etc/sysconfig/network....what's the equivilant under SuSE? dhcp is failing to pick up an address and dmesg shows a "no IPv6 routers present"

thanks!

I read that thread and I'm thinking I have a different problem....I'm not picking up an address at all. I also added the line to modprobe.conf....

Post the results of the following commands and describe your network. Where is the DHCP server? R U behind a router?

ifconfig

netstat -rn

cat /etc/resolv.conf

Is it a problem if my /etc/resolv.conf has NO VALID DATA IN IT?

Just kidding. Thanks for the post Harry C. I found out that my problem was that the system didn't have any helpful data in the resolv.conf. I fixed that and I am connected now. Thanks a million.

I'm having a similar problem. My computer is having a problem getting an IP from DHCP. Since you were able to get your network to work, I was curious as to how you put valid information in the "resolv.conf" file.

Well, I discovered the problem I was having. For my machine, I totally forgot to add the MAC address to my router which is the reason why an IP address couldn't be given out. I'm using a Belkin Router so anyone who is using a Belkin Router should add the MAC address of their new machine to avoid the problem that I had. :study:
