SUSE 11.0 kernel update deleted /root/boot/*

I have accepted to uptdate my linux kernel for opensuse11.0
and everything in the /boot/ directory has been deleted, so I dont even know which kernel was I updating to.
This OS was located in a LVM partition on /dev/sda4 mounted on /dev/system.
I have a second partition with fc10, where the MBR is located, which
I had installed on /dev/sda5 3 days before, so this was the first kernel update of opensuse in the new configuration.
I was expecting to have to change /boot/grub/menu.lst in my fc10 partition.
I actually had had quite some trouble with my new configuration which should not be the cause of this problem, but which basically forced me to shift the MBR to /dev/sda5 since the boot directory in the LVM partition was not accessible anymore, somehow.

I can see that everything else is apparently there,
but fc10 doesnt connect me to the router (eventually by cable, which I should find first), so that I am writing from another computer.

The kernel update probably tried to write the new configuration to the older menu.lst in /dev/system/root/boot/grub/, which is fine with me.
Unfortunatelly I kept the backup of /dev/system/root/boot in /dev/system/root/boot/tmp, which wasnt clever :-(.

I hope to have given enough information. It is quite weird that everything happend to be deleted.

Could I simply copy the contents of a boot directory from somewhere else,
adapt the grub/menu.lst from the MBR and be back to normal?

thanks in advance.
