suse 11.0- fonts do not display
 

hello:
I just upgraded from 10.0 to 11.0. the system boots up . however my font's do not display at all. they have a blank rectangular outline for fonts. I can log on via remote terminal. when i try to run firefox , it crashes and i get "pango" error,

prior to upgrading i was trying to make firefox 3.0 work on suse 10.0. during that time i had to install 'pango'. i do not know whether this has anything to do with the blank fonts. or whether it has to with xorg

Did you execute pango-querymodules? After executing you should have a file /etc/pango/pango.modules.

I downloaded the pongo source and did a make install. that fixed the problem.

now my gnome window is not working! however the kde4 is working nicely. and i even got my nvidia to work , which i was unable to do in the earlier 10 version!!

overall i am even impressed that i was able to upgrade preserving all my server and software development functions.
