SUSE 10 released, no dvd!?

Ok, the final version has now been uploaded to suse sites and there still isnīt a DVD version of the distro. Hey come on, whats the problem with that?

Novell offers only live and evaluation version of the suse 10 on dvd, but still no final/free/opensource dvd!

Oh for Godīs sake, its 2005, well probably they will release suse 10.1 with 1000 floppy disks.. Ill now stop complaining and start downloading the cds.

BTW here are the links:
Opensuses ftp server has now the SUSE 10 CDS available!!!!!!!!!!!
http://ftp.opensuse.org/pub/opensuse...SL-OSS-stable/
- torrents
- delta-isos
- yast sources
- isos for i386/ppc/x86_64

Novell main suse ftp has also some stuff available including
liveDVD, evalDVD and i386 cds
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/current/iso/

SUSE Linux 10.0 Evaluation = includes commercial freeware
SUSE Linux 10.0 OSS = Includes Open Source Software Only

hmm... Ok it seems that the EVAL is the complete DVD.

STUPID ME and i thought it would be something you can use for 30/90 or something days which is the normal situation with evalution programs atleast in windows.

TigerLinux 10-06-2005 05:15 AM

so, shall try eval or OSS?

onjoo 10-06-2005 06:31 AM

And here is the official announcement:

TigerLinux 10-06-2005 07:02 AM

i think the server is jammed,
can not enter,
i had better try after a few days.

Micro420 10-06-2005 08:21 AM

Yeah, most of the servers are full. The ones that are open only have the 5-CD's. I also want the DVD version, but just sit back and wait.

I am downloading EvalDVD-x86_64 with azureus. Server only gave me 1 kb/s and azureus works faster for sure.

Just get the Eval version unless you don't want any commercial software or want to add it on your own.

Eval

I think all the versions that you download are called eval. 9.3 was. I always used them just fine. Maybe they hope that if they call it an evaluation you will buy it? I am getting the OSS since I never install the prop. software anyway.

Is a LiveCD/DVD planned so users can try out compatibility before buying or installing? I have a 9.1 Live CD that currently has no support fro my

RealteK Audio (on mobo)
HP IR mouse and Keyboard
ATI Radeon XS300 graphics card.

LiveDVD is available at suses main ftp ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/10.0/.
Other sites havenīt been fully mirrored or they are full at the moment.

Atleast this ftp is working and there are torrents floating around somewhere...
