Suse 10 Live DVD boot - Out of Memory on Tecra 8100/512M
I just d/led the Suse 10 live DVD so that I could boot it on the laptop I have FC 4 on and test it out. However, when I boot it eventually hangs requiring a power off. It hangs at a page showing some CPU stats, DMS stuff, HighMem, etc.
I had to manually power off the laptop to get it to reboot. I did that and selected the "safe" boot option, and it did the same thing. After getting tired of that, I hit ESC earlier in the process on a safe boot and saw it give an Out Of Memory error a few times, killing procs as it went. I have 512M memory on this box, a 3COM card in the dock, and an old S3 MX video card. Any ideas? I've heard lots of good about Suse. I like Gentoo, but it hard to maintain sometimes, so I thought I'd try this. I don't want to sell SUSE short, but the only reference to this out of memory error I found was on redhat's site. <g> |
