suse 10 - cant run YaST from desktop

ok so i just installed it..got everything working the way i want except for one thing:
i cant run Yast from either the desktop tab at the top of the screen or from the applications -> system -> Yast link

running it from a terminal works but the whole textmode part of it is somewhat confusing for me..

i even dragged the icon straight onto my desktop and i can click it all i want yet nothing happens. it worked fine after the first boot. it doesnt work wether im logged in as normal user or as root. everything else seems to work perfectly fine.

anyone have any ideas?

running suse 10 and using the gnome desktop.

I have just encountered exactly the same problem, a recent "you" update included Yast components, I dont know if these have caused it to crash, in which case more people will have problems soon. I have been using yast with suse 10 for about a month, all fine untill now.
