suse 10.2 installation and raid 5 partition

I had previously installed suse 10.1 on a machine equipped with a raid 5 setup built with 6 drives. I was able to easily configure my partitions and proceed with the install. I am now trying a fresh install of suse 10.2, and in the initial stages of the installation process, the installer is telling me that it is unable to modify the partitions of this drive.

I tried proceeding regardless, and created a swap partition of 2 gb, and a boot partition of 500 mb, and tried to assign the remaining ~350 gigs to ‘/’. At this point, the installer tells me I can’t create a partition larger the max number of blocks which is listed as 5004.

What could cause such a discrepancy between releases, and how can I get around this?
