suse 10.2 install partions

I have a old small system with FREEDOS, LINUX swap, PUPPY linux, and a free 6.7 gig section.
When I boot up SUSE it wants to format both the 6.6 gig PUPPY section and the 6.7 gig free section. I want it to leave PUPPY alone and only use the free 6.7 gig?
How to do that? Or does SUSE need that much room?
The live DVD will not boot, needs 512 meg ram I only have 256 meg.

The installer will make a suggestion, which usually involves formatting everything it can find! You can manually override this by setting the PUPPY section to 'do not format', and then you will need to split the free section to make root and home partitions. I assume it has already picked up the swap partition. And yes, 6.6 GB is enough for suse (not a lot of room to spare though).
