Yup, YaST works.. , haven't yet tried the Zen Installer, but I will when I need something to install. I am excited, now I am just configuring my updater, and taking out all the crap services (why they all got entered from "Installation Sources" I have no idea (old bug I guess that got fixed).
It doesn't matter what repository you use, the xml repodata and parser(YAST or Zen) will take care of the rest. Package manager will offer you 64bit rpms if you are using a 64 system and the repo has 64bit packages available.

i am getting so fed up with Yast in 10.1 with it allways crashing (i cannot close the instal source module without a crash )
that this will be the last thing i tupe in it,
i am downgrading back to 10.0 as form my experiance it is faster and more stable!
(even though i will need to update a few things like wesnoth!)

YaST crashes? Have you installed the YaST / Zen / Rug etc updates?
i installed the full list of online updates when i did the install and again after,
since then i have had nothing but trouble, i have allready wiped it off an are back on 10.0 for now, i will next upgrade when 10.2 is reliced *which should be in a couple of mounths from what i have heard)

SL 10.1 was and still is quite buggy so hopefully the next release is in better shape.
Here is the roadmap for SL 10.2:
Jun 16, 2006 - SUSE Linux 10.2 Alpha 1 release.
Jul 13, 2006 - SUSE Linux 10.2 Alpha 2 release.
Aug 10, 2006 - SUSE Linux 10.2 Alpha 3 release.
Sep 7, 2006 - SUSE Linux 10.2 Alpha 4 release.
Oct 5, 2006 - SUSE Linux 10.2 Alpha 5 release.
+ betas + rcs --> so the final one maybe in late October or November or after KDE4 is done
i have changed my mind again after breifly experincing 10.0 again and relising all that was better in 10.1 so i hgave done a clean install and now thing seem to be working better than they were,
so if i install all the paches then everything shoudl work...
(i hope!)

IMO 10.1 > 10.0, just people got stuck and kept pointing out "YaST!" issues... But cmon, there is SMART, there is command line, and a bunch of others.. But now my solid concensus is:
Patched 10.1 > 10.0 and if people think otherwise, then try going back to 10.0
