Suse 10.1 On-line Update post Installation.
I have recently replaced by Suse 10.0 system with 10.1 so I could try out some of the new features. The installation of 10.1 appeared to go smoothly, and following installation the on-line updater tells me I have 56 updates available. Whatever combination of patches I request, I receive the following message
Establishing script:libzypp-patch-zmdrestart.sh-2-1533-1.noarch[SUSE-Linux-10.1-Updates] This would invalidate script:libzypp-patch-zmdrestart.sh-2-1533-1.noarch[SUSE-Linux-10.1-Updates]. Marking this resolution attempt as invalid. and thus cannot apply any patches. Both the CD and the net-based services are are of type ZYPP and are both active. Can you please let me know what I must do to be able to make use of on-line updates? |
Someone else may have more knowledge about this, but libzypp was broken in the 10.1 release, and even updating to fix it is a problem because it uses libzypp to do the update. But it has been fixed (more or less). Try starting YaST and run online update from there.

I've followed your suggestion of using YAST online update, and all the patches have been successfully downloaded and applied. I then used the new update mechanism to check for any further updates - it found two which it was then able to successfully apply. So, problem solved - thank you ever so much for your suggestion! Given that the 'old' method of using YAST works so well, it makes you wonder why they have changed a proven working method. I've still got one unrelated problem with 10.1 but I'll start a new thread for that one.
Thanks once again! |
