Unhappy Suse 10.1 - doesn't recognize all RAM on Dell PowerEdge 1300

Hi guys--

You were so great letting me vent when installing Kubuntu on my laptop, I was emboldened to traverse further...

I've now installed OpenSuSE 10.1 on my DELL PowerEdge 1300. Originally, the kernel didn't recognise the dual-processor, so I downloaded and installed the kernel-smp through YAST. Now, Linux is recognizing Processor 0 and Processor 1 (both Pentium III Coppermine's).

Still have problems with RAM though. I have approx. 0.75GB RAM installed but system monitors tell me I only have 376.5MB. As you can imagine, it's running like a dog. I'm open to any suggestions...

Regards,
S_C

Open a console, su to root, and run 'hwinfo --memory'. What output do you get, especially "Memory Size"?

Hi bigrigdriver--

Did something even simpler...went into the BIOS. Not reading full memory there. Will have to reseat my RAM and retest and that should take care of things.

Thanks for the hwinfo command parameter; will store that for future reference. At the moment, still preferring Kubuntu over SuSE though...
