Well, I haven't tried in 10.1, but in 10.0, the easiest way is to go into the Yast program installer, search for PHP, MySQL, and anything else you want, and install them. It's worked for me every time.

The only caveat is that I seem to recall that some versions of the DVD were supplied without some of those apps, so you had to set up Yast to install them from one of Suse's online repositories.

Why would you want to install php4 when SuSE 10.1 comes with php5.12?? Though I'm not a php user per se, the web department at work swears by v.5.
