Suse 10.0 info file: cannot find installation source
When I supply "install" and "autoyast" on the command line using the boot CD, it works. When I provide this information in an info file, the installation source can't be found but the autoyast is recognized.
My info file contains:
install: nfs://10.2.6.235/var/ftp/suse100/base
autoyast: nfs://10.2.6.235/var/ftp/Robotics/inst.xml
The directories are properly exported and can be seen from other machines.
This began with SuSE 9.3. I'm trying to setup up an automatic installation using the boot.iso CD along with a floppy containing the 'info' file. This worked just fine with 9.1 and in fact up through SuSE 9.3 I could use a 9.1 boot disk and install 9.3. When I used the 9.3 or 10.0 boot CD I get an error message saying it couldn't find the installation source.
I know that it's recognizing the autoyast specification and some of the install specification because if I accept the error and go through the manual installation sequence:
1. When I choose a network install with NFS, it displays the IP address I provided in the info file. However, the directory information is only a "/"
2. When I continue, and look at the software package selection, it contains the packages in my inst.xml file (an autoyast file).
I haven't tried nor wish to use ftp instead of nfs because ftp is a much slower installation. I'd like to get this resolved since I have to install SuSE on a number of workstations for a class I am teaching.
