Please post the exact data (your suse version, server and directory) you used. Then we might be able to help. Also check if your internet connection is working.
I have done this procedure several dozen times and I get as far as step 4 up to the 'press the OK button'. Then it gives the error instead of connecting to the server. My machine is connected to the internet via a proxyserver. I connect to the internet via sbserver:8080.
I am running SUSE 9.2 Pro, I tried to get contact with packman via direct ftp or http and that works fine, it's just the Yast setup to any updating service that stays silent. I tried ftp.suse.com and several mirrors.

BTW, I see your question is answered, but FYI, this means the Yast tool couldn't find the correct files in the directory you gave. I got this often when first setting up sources.

Could you tell me how you got around it? I tried at least six different sources, none worked beyond the OK button, they all returned the same error message.

I ask again: to which server are you trying to connect? It doesn't seem to be the packman server?!

I get the impression that you try to connect to the update source with 'Change Source of Installation'. This is not possible. Updates are handled by YOU (Online Update). The YOU servers are configured by the YOU module itself.
