space problem on suse 10.0 installation

Can anyone help me? I have a suse 10.0 installation and ran out of space on the partition, I tried to increase the space in yast partitioner but it told me the partition was mounted and it couldn't change it, with a message to unmount the partiton, as it was the root partiton I was dubious and decided to change it with partiton magic in dos. The partiton shows the correct new size in yast but if I try to install anything it declares it to be short of disk space and shows the old partiton size. Is there a setting to change and where is it?

Thanks

More information would be helpful here.

What is the File System of the partition...?

What is the size? How much space does it show..is remaining?

Have you tried using the Installation CD to resize the partitions, the same way you are trying to do it from within your SuSE environment?

I managed to fix the problem, it was a rieserfs partition, I had to replace the partition with the backup I made prior to the changes as I couldn't get back into kde and am not very proficient with the console environment, I used the resize_rieserfs /dev/sda6 command, I picked it up off another post after I asked my question, this worked fine.

Thanks.
