Sound problems

Ok, I picked up a cheapo Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600, and they were kind enough to forgo the software. So, I had my friend burn me 9.2 pro, and it installed fine. The only tangeble issue I am having is that the sound is not working at all! If I crank the volume up, the speaker will make popping noises (when you mute/unmute, this is normal - like its getting solid amounts of power) but no sound will go. If anybody knows anything to help me fix it up that'd be awesome. Thank a bunch in advance! -Bill

Maybe a description of your soundcard could help. Probably not installed drivers for the sound card or sound muted. try kmix, alsamixer
