Make sure that when you post a question like that, you always include relevant information. For instance...

what program did you try to use to play the movie?
did you just install SUSE or was the sound working before?
what model sound card do you have? (If you are unsure, reboot into Windows if you have Windows and check)
is your sound card supported by Linux, and is it in the HCL?

the tried-and-true answer is usually "alsaconf" and then "alsamixer". If alsaconf does not detect any cards, then you have a more serious problem: no driver is loaded for whatever card you have. You will then have to endure the possibly arduous process of installing one.

Incidently, if you live in the U.S. the "Office Max" store chain is offering a Mad Dog Prowler 4.1 card that is free after rebate(414 before) and works BEAUTIFULLY in linux! I like them so much I now own 3.

My SuSE box has an integreated NVIDIA soundcard which I found very, very difficult to get running, whereas getting the Prowler running was pretty much as easy as installing, booting up, and running alosaconf and alsamixer. Just a suggestions.

sorry, if this sounds stupid... but maybe the volume is just set to zero :)

it happened to me when i upgraded my kde to 3.3 - after that, the sound volume was 0 somehow.
so, if that could be the case, just check it with kmix (or the equvalent gnome or x mixer) and play a bit with the controls...
