Sound,No Midi?

I recently installed suse9.1 pro.Been busy setting all the peripherals up.I downlkoaded and installed almost all of the files available for alsa 1.0.8. I have sound but no midi.also when I try the inclkuded psx emulator theres no sound.I get full sound on cd/dvd/wmv/mov files and system sounds.

One of the alsa packages said I need "cursers"?installed to configure correcltly.either tools or utilites.I've forgotten which one.I tried turning up sound on some of the help I have the creative labs audigy 2.

all help appreciated.
