Slow video card after xgl upgrade!

I upgraded to Suse 10.1 64 bit successfully and added xgl. Everything works great; however, the glxgears are running much slower than before the xgl upgrade. I have and NVIDIA GeForce 6600 256. Before the xgl upgrade, the gears were about 6300 fps now they are around 1500 fps. I realize the glxgears are not benchmarking and I can't tell anything has slowed down, but I want to get maximum performance out of my gear. Is the slowdown normal, not real, or is there a bug somewhere I need to fix?

I know you likely don't want to hear this, but I am having the same exact problem with a 6600GT. I remember 'gnome-xgl-settings' reporting that the video card was not supported, perhaps that is the root of the problems. XGL is so nice, but it's not worth it for my 3D game performance to take the hit.

I'm switching back to Xorg for the time being until things are panned out.

My wife's box has the same problem with Xgl (Geforce Ti4200), but she doesn't run anything 3D, so I kept it running on her box.

I have a Suse 10.1 64 bit system, with an ATI graphic card (Radeon X600 PCIE). First I installed the ATI driver and I have 3d acceleration and +/- 6500 FPS in glxgears. When I installed Xgl, I lost 3D, and the FPS went down to +/- 1200.

Right now my system behaves well, and I can't tell the difference of having 3d or not, unless of course I try to run some games. For me it's acceptable to lose some performance of the graphic card and enjoy Xgl, for the time being. Hope in the near future things get better in this front, it will be very welcomed, at least for me.
